Athens host the 1st FIBEP Spring Summit

FIBEP Spring Summit

The two-day FIBEP summit begins today in Athens. The Spring Summit is a new format launched by FIBEP in March this year that brings together three events: copyright, tech and sales.

“After 2 years of virtual events I am very excited that FIBEP members are meeting again in person. I believe that the event will provide our members with outstanding professional content and many opportunities for networking,” says Ms Magdalena Horánska, Secretary General of FIBEP and CEO of NEWTON Media SEE.

The Copyright session will be led and moderated by Christophe Dickès, FIBEP Vice President and Global Media & Copyright Direct, Onclusive. The session will have six speakers, each highlighting a different copyright issue or region. Speakers include Marie Keup, Counsel at Taylor Wessing, who will explain how the Copyright Directive has been implemented in Belgium and the Netherlands and will point out how this will likely affect the current licensing structure of MMOs in those countries.

The Tech session was prepared by Sophia Karakeva, FIBEP Vice President, who was also to moderate it. However, due to Sophie´s illness, the meeting will be moderated by Magdalena Horánska. The session includes a mix of presentations and panels to discuss a variety of different tech developments affecting the media intelligence industry. One such panel includes topics about The Metaverse: Opportunities, Risks, & Regulation, presented by Louis Rosenberg, PhD, CEO & Chief Scientist Unanimous AI; OSINT: Sensemaking in a Hybrid Environment, presented by Alessandro Politi, Director of the NATO Defense College Foundation and Media intelligence in times of war, disinformation and human rights abuses, presented by Martin Mycielski, Vice-President, Director of Public Affairs, Open Dialogue Foundation.

The Sales session will be led and moderated by Steffen Egelund, FIBEP Vice President and CEO of Media Track. As part of this session, Eric Karstens, freelance grant and tender development consultant with 15 years’ experience in the EU communications, public affairs, media, and journalism ecosystem, will share his expertise with the talk Winning EU tenders: Recent trends and tactics. This talk considers the framework conditions of bidding for EU business in the light of the institutions’ procurement trends and practices, and how to read the convoluted terms of reference.

Last but not least, FIBEP Vice President Todd Murphy (CEO, Universal Information) and Carlos Diaz (General Manager, GlobalNews Group) have prepared a special networking session.

The FIBEP Spring Event will be a combination of an in-person and hybrid format and it is for FIBEP members only. The Headline Sponsor is DataScouting. “DataScouting is a FIBEP member since 2014 and we have been sponsoring all FIBEP events since then. We are happy to be the headline sponsor of the 1st FIBEP Spring Summit, especially as it is taking place in Athens. With our media monitoring software solutions, we help media monitoring companies and organizations streamline their workflow, create a database of media intelligence information and share content,” says Mr Anastasios Avramis, Managing Partner of DataScouting.
