The largest media archive in Central Europe will be accessible online.

Open Archiv

Newton Media offers online access to its media archive to the broad public. Based on a simple registration, anyone can obtain seven-day access for free. Subsequently, all those interested will be able to purchase some of Newton’s packages, which are priced depending on the number of articles available with full texts or on the scope of the archive.

Newton Media has prepared a major innovation on the occasion of its 25th anniversary. On February 11, it will open its greatest treasure to occasional users – the media archive, which has been collecting media outlets since 1992.

Newton Media database contains an extraordinary amount of data. Since its beginnings, the company has collected over 118 million contributions from Czech media. Last year alone, over 9 million articles from all media types were added to the ever-growing archive collection. Currently, the most of the content comes from online resources, followed by the press, agency news, television, and radio.

“Today, we are used to searching for information through Google, but Google doesn’t offer older data. Even the current one are being ranked according to an algorithm, which may not always be relevant for users. In the Newton archive, you will find older articles that even the Google archive will not see, and you can filter and sort them according to many optional parameters,” says the founder and owner of Newton Media, Petr Herian.

“The biggest benefit of this innovation is the speed of access to our data. All those interested in the content of the archive can access it themselves at any time, with a few clicks,” explains Petr Herian. According to him, the new service is intended especially for users who need information immediately. These are typically freelance journalists, students writing diploma theses, teachers, or lawyers.

During the 25 years of the company’s existence, the way media contributions are archived has changed significantly. A quarter of a century ago, scanned newspaper articles and handwritten transcripts of television and radio programs dominated. Today, Newton monitors all media using artificial intelligence. Instead of former human transcribers, it now automatically converts radio and television broadcasts to text using state-of-the-art technology. Human invention is then fully utilized in the creation of media analyses, where the knowledge and experience of media experts are still irreplaceable.

It is possible to sign up for the service on the website via the link https://newtonone.newtonmedia.eu/registration.
